Soilscents, currently India’s favourite plant-powered beauty brand, was born out of our family’s long-time love affair with pure nature.
Seema Jose is well-known among her friends and family as a ‘nature junkie’. Seema was born in Muvattupuzha, where lavender plants don’t bloom. So when she went to Bosnia, Seema ran around wide-eyed, plucking lavender leaves. In Mauritius, she scooped up seven-colour soil and brought it home. Rare leaves, medicinal plants, uncommon herbs – you name it, these filled Seema’s return luggage.
Once, from the Spanish port city, when she brought back Valencia oranges to peel and rub on her skin, her daughter Minna and son Adon began wondering: Why can’t we produce pure, high-quality nature care products in India too?
“No doubt, it was amma’s passion for organic wellness that led us to set up Soilscents,” says Minna, the Creative Director of the now flourishing company.
Over the years, the family hand-made ethical, natural, vegan face packs, body masks, herbal scrubs, and leaf powders, and gave them to friends and family. Thus, passion turned into fun, which further blossomed into a remarkable business idea.
Expert dermatologists, clinical consultants, and renowned chemists stepped in. Soon, to honour his family’s wish to gift India a world-class range of nature care products,
Seema’s husband, Anil Jose—a legacy jewellery entrepreneur at TT Devassy Jewellery—launched Soilscents.
